A Night Under the Stars

We, the Dark Sky Committee and members of the Nelson Astronomical Society, invite you to spend a night under the stars at the Wai-iti Dark Sky Park on December the 1st or 2nd ie whichever is the first fine, clear night. Bring your camper van, caravan, tent, bivy, ground sheet and sleeping bag and spend the night or just part of the night with us under the stars. You will need to cater for yourselves with food and drink, sleeping options, deck chairs, binoculars and the like. Astronomers will be present to explain the night sky and let you look at objects through their telescopes. The main observing period will be from 10:00pm to Midnight. But by all means come earlier to set up. After 11:00pm we expect to observe normal curfews to allow others, especially children to sleep. The location is 437/439 Wakefield- Kohatu highway. Wai Iti, south of Wakefield.
